Dr. George R. Tiller was known and admired for his tremendous contribution to abortion services, not only in the United States, but around the world.

His willingness to listen to women and respond to their deepest needs was of paramount importance to him. Dr. Tiller's overarching principles of kindness, courtesy, justice, love, and respect were the driving force in his ability to provide these services, with compassion and skill, to women who found themselves in catastrophic circumstances.

On May 31, 2009, Dr. Tiller was murdered as he served as an usher in his Wichita, Kansas church.

We lost a husband, a father, a grandfather, and our best friend that day. But our family did not lose our direction, and we did not lose hope. Although we realize our time of grief will never pass, we know now this is the time to further his legacy.
